I went to a little river for a few hours on tuesday evening and had some nice brownies. The first run was a nice fast run so I put on a little black wet fly and had 3 nice brownies before moving to a slow pool and got 2 more on a dry fly and called it a day.

Hi there, I don't do a whole lot of lake fishing but, on the one lake that I do fish sometimes sedge flies seem to be good, and if there is a lot of fish rising they are probably feeding on midges.
So any midge pattern might be worth a try. ( If they are feeding on midges they can be very hard to catch at times)

I use a 9ft tapered leader because they tend to be a bit better for presentation.

Let me know how you get on.

HTH
